1) Weighted clubs can cause injuries by
putting too much stress on muscles, joints
and ligaments of the shoulders, back and
wrist.
2) At the top of the swing, muscles not
used with the normal driver are use to
control the heavier swing aids. This
additional weight can also cause injury to
the thumb that supports the club from
underneath.
3) Different muscles are utilized when
swinging a weighted club, as opposed to a
normal driver, at the change of
direction between the back swing and
the start of the down swing.
4) Weighted clubs promote an early release
of the hands, because of the difficulty of
holding the extra weight in the desired 90
degree angle, as the club approaches impact.
5) Once a weighted club is
released, muscles are used in a negative way
to slow down and control the additional
weight.
